Welcome to the image gallery for the "Latin Challenge (Reto Latino)" event at Perris, CA. Organized by Rafael Zevallos, Jose Ignacio Alvarez, Pedro Ushizima y Guillermo Gorg. Plane captains Pedro Ushizima, Jose Ignacio Alvarez y Alfonso Saavedra.
It all began thirty years ago, when Fernando Gallegos and Alberto Alibrandi launched the “Reto Latino” (Latin Challenge) project to grow and promote Latin Skydiving in the world. After many events, in 2008 the event was held in Venezuela and the format became to build the largest formation ever made by Latino skydivers. The fruit of their effort was tangible as the Latin Skydiver population grew in numbers and quality. Today there are many Latino skydivers who participate in the best teams and events worldwide.
It has been 16 years since that event which brough the Latin American community together in a common goal and on June 9, 2024 the Latin American community came together again to set a new record in the category of “Total Break Sequential” at Skydive Perris, CA when 47 Latin American skydivers jumped out of 3 separate aircraft flying in formation ( 2 Twin Otters and 1 Skyvan) at an altitude of 17,500 ft above ground and built a 47-way 2-point total break sequential Latin record..

Athletes from 12 Latin American countries participated in this record breaking event including Argentina, Brazil, Panama, Mexico, Paraguay, Ecuador, Uruguay, Chile, Peru, El Salvador, Guatemala and Puerto Rico.
The atmosphere was one great camaraderie and respect as well as honoring the original organizers who were not able to attend.
