Welcome to the "104-Way Canopy Formation Record 202" event gallery organized by Chris Gay and Brian Pangburn at Skydive Florida in Lake Wales, FL. Skydivers from 20 countries including Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Belarus, Brazil, Canada, Czech Republic, Columbia, Denmark, France, Egypt, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Sweden, United Kingdom and United States came to participate in this awesome and very successful event with the intention of breaking the previous record of 100-Way set on November 21st, 2007, we used 8 aircraft with the highest one flying at 19,500’ AGL and took advantage of the great facilities at Jump Florida Skydiving.
As the event progressed, it was clear that this was not going to be an easy task, many challenges had to be overcome and finally, on November 22nd 2025, on the first jump of the day, this extremely talented group of jumpers managed to break the world record by successfully building a 104-Way formation which was verified by the judges on and off site. After 18 years and one day, the team had finally accomplished what appeared to be an impossible task, amazing!!!
For me personally it was incredible to be in the air with this super talented and dedicated group of Canopy Formation flyers, what a privilege to be in the air with them and capture their beautiful performances. On a personal note, one of the things I love about this kind of event is that I am at my best when I am shooting the best! I enjoy reading the energy around me, making adjustments and modifications to my shooting plan based on the readings, and indulging in the beautiful interaction with my intuitive senses. As the event progressed I felt more and more connected to the energy around me, and on Wednesday morning, I declared to the camera team that the record would happen on the first jump on Saturday…. As the day came closer, I felt more and more assurance that this would be the case. The night before, I spent extra time with my helmet “Marcela” bonding with her and making final adjustments, the next morning on the ground while preparing prior to the jump, I felt giggly as I knew the record was coming; It was a very different feeling than other jumps that week….. After I exited the aircraft and waited in my lonely spot in front of the formation, I looked at my 360 handheld camera and said: “On Wednesday, I had a premonition that the record would happen on this morning’s jump, lets see how it plays out”…. As expected, shortly after that, I saw the formation completing and heard Brian Pangburn on my radio say: “complete, complete”, I made my run at it, firing multiple cameras at will… Amazing visuals…Amazing feeling… A new world record, and I was a part of it!! I love having this relationship to energy and intuition, my photographs are only a representation of this beautiful connection….. I am a lucky man!
Skydive Florida in Lake Whales, FL was a very accommodating and efficient DZ with many safe landing options making it an ideal place for this kind of event. Additionally, the staff and management were amazing!
